I have always been interested in mountaineering ever since my parents took me on holiday to Snowdonia. In the 1970′s and 80′s I was a very active climber and was fortunate to live in the Peak District with climbs on my doorstep. A move back to Cheshire and the arrival of three children have meant that I have been much less active in recent years. However, the children have started to take an interest in mountaineering and this summer (2006) we all went rock climbing on Tryfan.

2008.

It rained most of the summer, but we did get some climbing done on the Gribin Facet, in Derbyshire and on the sea cliffs of Donegal.

2007.

We have made a couple of trips to the Peak District this year, which has seen Dad wobbling up routes he used to run up and down. We had a great couple of days at Easter on Idwal slabs. In true epic tradition I managed to get the rope jammed under a flake while trying to bring up Ella (7 years old) on Charity. The whole crag was entertained while I untied and soloed up and down the route to sort out the mess. Ella was completely unperturbed and still seems keen on climbing, despite her Dad’s incompetence:)
